Sr. Accounting Manager

The Sr. Accounting Manager will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with accounting principles, corporate policies and external audits. This is a hands-on, roll up your sleeves position involving oversite of accounting team to ensure accuracy of accounts payable function, monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of financial statements. The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical background and works proactively to drive results. Must be a self-starter, flexible, have a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast paced, team oriented and collaborative environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and report preparation.
  • Participate in ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
  • Responsible for hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements
  • Align with the Controller to set, meet, and manage all financial and operational goals  
  • Assist in any and all areas to ensure the team, department, and company division maintain success 
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
  • Assist with documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls 
  • Prepare detailed journal entries and account analysis
  • Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
  • Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns 
  • Work cross-functionally through the operation and maintain a hands-on “lead by example” approach  

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (including pivot tables and V-lookup functions) and MS Office required  
  • Experience with financial systems (Intacct helpful) and ERP systems (SAP helpful) with knowledge of data structure and reporting requirements 
  • Knowledge of general ledger close and reporting processes 
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information
  • Ability to communicate successfully with people at all levels within the company

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 21+ and currently residing in the USA  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business
  • 3+ years accounting experience (public accounting or public company corporate accounting strongly preferred) 
  • CPA preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and consistent follow through on assigned tasks
